Uniting, Organizing & Mobilizing for a Safe, Healthy & Productive Community

Dear Riverbend Friend and Supporter,

The City of Dayton and the Riverbend Art Center Council have a long history of working together to provide a place for individuals to express their artistic creativity. We understand the current economic situation and the City's reasons for closing the Riverbend Art Center but we refuse to let the Center remain closed. The atmosphere and culture of the Center has a unique place in Dayton's artistic community. We believe that Riverbend is worth saving and we need your help and support to reopen the Center.

The Riverbend Art Center Council is a non-profit 501c3 organization serving the Greater Miami Valley region. The purpose of the Council is "to enhance the culture of the region by providing opportunities for learning, appreciating, creating and participating in various art forms”. We would like to continue to do so in a manner that is beneficial to all parties.

The Riverbend Art Council has submitted a proposal to the City of Dayton, which indicates our interest in partnering with them to reopen the
Riverbend Art Center building. The Council would assume the financial burden of running and maintaining the building in return for a minimal rental fee and the cooperation of the City.

We are calling on former students and instructors to support this endeavor. We have explored other avenues and we believe that Riverbend Art Center, itself offers the best possibilities for maintaining continuity in the quality of instruction and encouragement offered.

In an effort to show the importance of Riverbend Art Center and add weight to the proposal, we request that you support our efforts by writing a brief letter to the City of Dayton Mayor and City Manager, suggesting that accepting and supporting the Riverbend Art Council’s proposal would be an exemplary demonstration of its regards for the greater Dayton Art community and its devotion to its citizens. This solution would be beneficial to the City of Dayton and its artistic community.
Please write or email a brief letter to the following people and tell them why Riverbend is important to Dayton and ask them to accept the Riverbend Art Council’s proposal. Showing your support could make a difference in the outcome.
