Uniting, Organizing & Mobilizing for a Safe, Healthy & Productive Community

Does anyone notice that arts we experienced as children are going away? Arts such as story telling, crocheting, knitting, playing instruments, drawing, meaningful conversations, being neighborly, caring about others feelings, painting, gift giving, being in love (not lust), giving compliments, giving (and taking) advice, family dinners, family discussions, family patriarchs, family matriarchs, need I go on?

I would have to agree, America has become anti-family, anti-art & culture, anti-freedom of speech, expression and protest. It is becoming more totalitarian, more of a police state, more monopolized and privatized.
It's a me society, a Big I and little you society. The American culture is built off a western framework and not an African framework.
The sad thing is that Blacks have adopted the western way of life; culture, values, norms, religion and so on. The more we integrate into the culture, values and norms the sicker we become as a people. The more we reject our own history, our own culture (NOT HIP HOP), our own values and morals, the more lost as a people we become.

Black people in Dayton don't even acknowledge each other. Everyone has their own little clicks that they are apart of. We are divided by religion, class, gender and age. Our disunity is destroying our communities. Dayton is like a donut, were surrounding communities are healthy and strong, but the center, where Blacks live, building are deserted, no movie theater, no mall, grocery stores are leaving.

Why? Because we refuse to come together, pull our resources and do something for self. Those of us who have a little money would rather spend it among other races and ethnic groups than with our own.

We must return to our roots, learn the great history of our people and teach it to our children, embrace our culture, norms, values and moral system, unite under a common cause, then and only then will we as a people have a bright future.
